You’ve probably passed by Antique on your way to Iloilo or Boracay but have you ever stopped to check out what this place has to offer?

The province of Antique is often referred to as the place “where the mountains meet the sea” because of the short distance between its mountains and coast which is really a pleasant sight to see especially if you are a nature lover.

If you’ve already tried the water rafting in Cagayan de Oro then you must experience the river kayaking in Tibiao, Antique. Unlike the white water rafting in CDO, you get to ride and navigate the kayak alone from start to finish.
With whitewater rafting grades of up to 3 (intermediate level with medium-sized waves and 3 to 5-foot drops) and 4 (advanced level with large waves, considerable drops and sharp maneuvering needed), it’s no wonder the Department of Tourism has been promoting it as a whitewater kayaking destination.

If you are a fan of waterfalls, then trekking to the falls of Bugtong-Bato should top your list. The 1.3 kilometer trek will give you a nice scenic view of three out seven waterfalls of Tibiao.

For a unique and relaxing experience, do not miss the Kawa Hot Bath from the same town. The over-sized woks serve as a tub to give travelers a therapeutic sauna-like experience.

Job Fairs in Iloilo

As of April 24, close to 18,000 job vacancies from 76 local employers and overseas recruitment agencies will be available for applicants for the job fairs in Iloilo City that will be held at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol and SM City Iloilo, according to a DOLE 6 press report.

In order to avoid the long queues on the day and for easy matching of skills and the available vacancies, jobseekers can pre-register for the Labor Day Jobs and Livelihood Fairs in Iloilo.

There are two pre-registration activities that will be conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment 6 (DOLE 6) which kicked off April 26-27 at the DOLE Iloilo-Guimaras Field Office located at Swan-Rose Building, Commission Civil St., Jaro, Iloilo City.

The other pre-registration site will be done simultaneously at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol and the Iloilo City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) at the Iloilo City Hall on April 28-30.

Last night, we witness the largest flming image using candles and we made it happen again! #LightofPeace2014 broke Guinness World Record of "Largest Flaming Image using Candles" with 56,680 candles.

The annual "Light of Peace in the Philippines" event is held by the Middle Way Meditation Institute (Iloilo) and six other core organizers to promote "World Peace through Inner Peace" -- helping people experience true happiness through meditation. 

 The Savannah Football Field where 100,000 candles was lighted.

DINAGYANG SA ILOILO

 Dinagyang Festival‘s

highlights are celebrated every 3rd or 4th weekend of January, every year. The highlights are composed of the Ati-Ati Competition, the Kasadyahan Festival, the foot and fluvial procession, and the religious sadsador religious street dance. Dinagyang is the Best Tourism Event in the country. Various festivals in the country learned and applied innovations in their own by watching Dinagyang. it's a religious and cultural festival in reverence of “Sr. Santo Nino”

A fluvial parade is held on Friday. It also serves as the highlight of the religious aspect of the festival.

Kasadyahan is held on Saturday and is a cultural competition showcasing the diverse and colourful Festivals of each participating municipality of Iloilo Province.

Chinese New Year Festival Held during the First Full Moon of the year, lighted paper lanterns of various shapes and sizes line on street corners in downtown area of the city. At night, Iloilo is alive and busting with merriment that features lavish and colourful fireworks display, Chinese cultural and variety shows and night bazaar where festive goods are on sale.
Not to miss out is its most spectacular festivity, the lion and dragon dance performed to the beating of the gong and drums accompanied with acrobatic performances. The food festival that features a variety of culinary delights adds flavor to the festive spirit of every Ilonggos.

Paraw and Samba Regatta Festival

 The sunny but cool and windy February climate paves the way for the annual Paraw Regatta along Iloilo Strait. Colorful paraws (local sailboats) vie for trophies and cash prices for the different categories of the contest.

 The contest gives tribute and honor to this water vehicle as an indispensible partner of local fishermen and as a common means of transportation between Iloilo and Guimaras and the other nearby coastal towns.

Side events also include; Porma Balas a sand sculpting competition; search for Ms. Paraw Regatta; Beach-volleyball; Beach-soccer; and the Samba Regatta, a music and dancing competition which has resemblance of the mardi gras in Rio de Janeiro.
